The Challenge

There are many ways to enjoy art, but could we create a mobile experience that leveraged the Metropolitan Museum of Art's existing collection in a brand new way? Our solution was "Met"amorphosis, the mobile app that gives you a tour through the Metropolitan Museum of Art following the journey of Ovid's epic poem Metamorphosis.

The Solution

There are countless paintings and sculpture by great artist spanning many centuries  inspired by Ovid's epic poem and many of them are in the permanent collection at the Met in New York City, our home town.

Conveniently, The Met released royalty-free high resolution images of all their paintings, enabling us to bring our vision to life with rich imagery, no licensing fees, and a  vanity project was born that let us combine our love of painting with the geeky thrill of making something interactive. Also, it gave me a chance to dive deep into Sketch and explore the intricacies of setting up a symbol library and establishing complex design systems, and functional prototypes.
